Add your home search to your website
You don’t have to change or rebuild your current website. Pick one of the options below. Most brokerages use the first one, and many add the second one too.
1. Use a subdomain, like homes.yourbrokerage.com (recommended)
Why this is the best choice: your current website stays exactly as it is, buyers see your own domain in the address bar, and every link you share and every email we send for you points to your name, not ours. It takes one DNS record, there’s nothing to install, and nothing to maintain afterwards.
- In your console, open Settings and go to Website domain.
- Choose A subdomain, type the address you want (for example
homes.yourbrokerage.com) and press Use this domain. We show you one CNAME record. - Sign in where you manage your domain (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, Squarespace, Wix, Google and so on), open its DNS settings and add that record. The Name or Host is the first part (
homes), and the Value, Target or Points to is exactly what Settings shows. - Back in Settings, press Check status. It usually goes live within an hour. Settings tells you in plain words if anything is off.
- Add a Search homes link to your current website’s menu that opens your new address.
2. Add widgets to pages you already have
Why: it puts a search box, a grid of homes or one featured listing right where your visitors already are, in your colors. A click opens the home on your site with the full photos, alerts and saved searches. It works best alongside option 1, because widgets send visitors to your site but don’t replace it.
- In your console, open Settings and find Embeds. Pick a widget, set a city or price range if you like, and copy the code.
- Paste it into the page: in WordPress use a Custom HTML block, in Squarespace a Code block, and in Wix an Embed HTML element. Any website builder that accepts HTML works.
3. Start today with your free address
Why: every brokerage gets yourbrokerage.keptintouch.com the moment it signs up, already secure and ready to share. It’s the fastest way to start. Link to it from your menu now and switch to your own subdomain whenever you like, with nothing to move.
Using your whole domain (only if this replaces your website)
If you want this to be your whole website, choose My whole domain in Settings. Your site then lives at www.yourbrokerage.com: add the CNAME record named www that Settings shows, and set your bare domain to forward to https://www.yourbrokerage.com (most registrars call this forwarding or a redirect). This takes your current website off that domain, so most brokerages should use a subdomain instead.
If it isn’t live yet
- Give it time. DNS changes usually show up within an hour, and occasionally take a few hours.
- Cloudflare: set the record’s proxy status to DNS only (gray cloud), otherwise we can’t issue your security certificate.
- Replace, don’t add twice. If a record with the same name already exists, edit or delete it first. A name can have only one CNAME.
- Value only. Paste the value as shown, with no
http://and no trailing slash. Some providers add your domain to the name for you, sohomesis enough there.
Stuck? Email support@keptintouch.com with your domain and where you manage it, and we’ll walk you through it.
